3D Laser Scanning Beringer Airplane Wheel Assembly
Laser Scanning is the most efficient method in digitizing and creating a virtual copy of a physical, tangible object. Objects that have sophisticated geometry and curved surfaces are difficult to measure by hand or with manual techniques. Laser Scanning builds a highly detailed mesh of the object, containing all the dimensions from all surfaces and angles. In the case of assemblies, individual components can be put together virtually; making it a powerful tool to extract measurements and verify clearances. For this project we were asked to scan the airplane wheel and brake assembly.
