For a project with Fiammenghi Italia, we performed laser scanning on a Lamborghini Aventador to capture various components for product development and engineering.
Industrial-grade 3D laser scanning is frequently used in motorsport development. It enables project designers and engineers to capture highly accurate physical geometry, streamline product development processes, and simulate mechanical components in CAD.
This 1980 Suzuki RM250 exhaust downpipe had numerous features that would normally be difficult to capture for entry-level or hobby scanners. This made for an exceptional example to showcase the advantages of using industrial-grade laser scanners.
For this project we performed a complete 3D laser scan of the W&L Sprinter DPF V6 3.0L WL1003US catalytic converter unit. The unit was scanned from all directions and all details are captured in a single scan file.
