Laser Scanning is the most efficient method in digitizing and creating a virtual copy of a physical, tangible object. Objects that have sophisticated geometry and curved surfaces are difficult to measure by hand or with manual techniques.

Laser scanning a steering wheel may seem excessive at first because the geometry appears fairly simplistic. But on closer inspection, a steering wheel actually consists of precise dimensions and curves; each dimension was carefully thought out for ideal ergonomics.
