Datsun 1200 Laser Scan

Customizing and restoring vintage vehicles can be a challenging task due to the scarcity and unavailability of parts. However, laser scanning classic automobiles can help to obtain modernized digital data of the original components. This data can be used by designers and engineers to re-create replica pieces that are identical to the original ones, staying true to their original details. Additionally, the shapes of these parts can be improved by incorporating aesthetic or functional upgrades. With the help of digital data, the parts can be prototyped and manufactured using modern technology such as CNC and 3D printing, resulting in higher efficiency and precision.

We conducted a comprehensive exterior scan of the Datsun 1200 for this project. The car had a diverse range of colors and finishes, such as dark blue paint, black, chrome bumpers, and thin chrome trims. Despite the contrasting surfaces, our team managed to capture all the intricate details throughout the entire vehicle using our blue laser scanner.
